Mountain Lake is a family-run complex in the Smolyan Lakes area, on the southern slope of Snezhanka peak at about 1,500 m above sea level. It sits in a centuries-old fir forest a short drive from the town of Smolyan and the Pamporovo ski resort, about 90 km from Plovdiv airport, and the Greek Aegean coast is around three hours away through the Zlatograd border crossing.
The hotel is built in an elegant Rhodope style, with solid wood furniture, stone and open fireplaces. The gated grounds include 12 decares of park and flower gardens between the villas, with playgrounds, a barbecue area and a summer bar. The Smolyan Lakes area is known for its clean, highly ionised mountain air, which makes it a good choice for a restful stay in every season.
The restaurant is decorated like an old Rhodope town house, with 90 seats inside and up to 50 on the terrace in summer. The menu is based on traditional Rhodope specialities, cooked fresh with produce from local farmers. Tables can be booked in advance through the hotel.
The Meeting Point Club is an English-style bar with a large fireplace, a billiard table, card tables and screens for sports events. It can also be booked for private parties and team-building evenings.
For children there is an indoor play corner and an outdoor playground, plus a small football pitch, a basketball hoop, a badminton court and a trampoline in the park. The complex is fenced, with security and video surveillance, and an all-day babysitter can be arranged on request.
The hotel also has a conference hall for up to 40 people with a screen and multimedia, and organises seminars, team building, weddings and family celebrations, indoors and in the garden. The hotel has four room types. Double rooms are on the top (third) floor and have a balcony with mountain and forest views, with one double bed or two single beds. The one-bedroom apartment has a living room with a sofa bed and a separate bedroom, and most have a fireplace. The two-bedroom apartment has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room with a sofa bed and a fireplace. The two-level maisonette on the top floors has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchenette and a fireplace. Mountain Lake Hotel is at 19–21 Smolyanski Ezera Street in the Smolyan Lakes area, about 1 km from the lakes themselves, around 4.5 km from Pamporovo and close to the Smolyan ski area. The town of Smolyan is a short drive away and Plovdiv airport is about 90 km. Walks start right from the hotel: the Orpheus Rocks and Snezhanka peak with its TV tower and viewing platform are nearby, and the Bride eco trail and the Waterfalls Canyon near Smolyan are easy day trips.

Prices and what is includedPrices are in euros, per room or apartment per night for the regular beds, with breakfast. They include the relax zone (warm indoor pool, Finnish and infrared saunas, steam bath and aroma steam bath), Wi-Fi, parking, the resort tax, insurance and 9% VAT. Weekend prices apply to Friday and Saturday nights. The prices for each season are listed on each room.
Booking and paymentA booking is confirmed once a 50% deposit has been paid, within 5 days of booking. The rest of the price is paid at the hotel on arrival.
Cancellation and changesFree cancellation more than 30 days before arrival. From 30 to 21 days before arrival, half of the deposit (25% of the stay) is charged. From 20 days before arrival, or for a no-show, the whole deposit (50% of the stay) is charged. Cancellations and changes must be made in writing.
Check-in and check-outCheck-in from 14:00 to 20:00, check-out by 12:00. If you will arrive after 20:00, let us know so we can arrange it with the hotel. Show the voucher we send you at reception, together with an ID card or passport for each guest, as the hotel must register all guests under Bulgarian law. You will be given the room type confirmed in your booking.
Children and extra bedsChildren under 6 stay free on an extra bed with two adults. Children aged 6 to 11.99 on an extra bed pay 17.25 € and adults 28.75 € per night (30 € and 50 € during the Christmas package). Maximum per room: double room 2 adults (Deluxe double 2 adults and 1 child), one-bedroom apartment 2 adults and 2 children or 3 adults, two-bedroom apartment 4 adults and 2 children or 5 adults, maisonette 6 adults and 1 child.
Christmas and New YearBetween 22 and 27 December 2026 the hotel sells only its 3- or 4-night Christmas package with breakfast and the Christmas Eve dinner on 24 December; the prices are shown on each room. The Christmas dinner on 25 December is optional (60 € per adult, 40 € per child aged 6 to 11.99). New Year stays (28 December 2026 to 2 January 2027) are priced on request.
HousekeepingRooms are cleaned every day, and towels and bed linen are changed every 3 days.
PetsPets are accepted only in some one-bedroom apartments, for 17.25 € per night. Please tell us about your pet when you send your enquiry.
Extending your stayIf you want to stay longer, contact us first. Extra nights arranged directly at the hotel are charged at the hotel’s reception rates.
Problems during your stayIf anything is not as expected, tell the hotel reception and let us know straight away, within 48 hours at the latest, so that we can resolve it with the hotel. Any damage caused to the hotel is settled directly between the guest and the hotel.
