Marica Hut is located in the Rila Mountains, Bulgaria, positioned at an elevation of approximately 1,700 meters. It lies on the eastern side of the Musala Lake and serves as a convenient base for exploring Rila’s central and eastern mountain trails.
The hut can be approached by:
Hiking from Borovets Ski Resort, which takes about 3 to 4 hours on marked trails.
Trekking from nearby huts such as Zavrachica Hut, reachable within about 1 hour on foot.
Walking from Musala Hut via established hiking paths.
Access from the Maritsa Dam area by foot, usually requiring several hours of hiking.
The hiking trails leading to Marica Hut are well-marked, suitable for experienced hikers, and provide scenic mountain views typical of Rila. There is no direct vehicle access to the hut, so approach is exclusively on foot along the mountain paths.
The hut is open between July and September, but if a group requests in advance, it can optionally be opened for the rest of the year.
