Chakyr Voivoda Hut

Chakyr Voivoda Hut is located in the Rila Mountains of southwestern Bulgaria, positioned near the upper reaches of the Dzherman River valley. It sits at an elevation of approximately 1560 meters above sea level and serves as a popular base for hikers exploring Rila National Park, including trails toward Musala Peak, the Seven Rila Lakes, and nearby mountain huts.

How to get there:

Start from the town of Sapareva Banya, which is the nearest settlement with road access. From Sapareva Banya, take a forest road or hike approximately 9 kilometers (about 3 hours on foot) up to the hut via the Dzherman River valley. The trail is well-marked and suitable for intermediate hikers, passing through mixed conifer forests and alpine meadows. In winter, access may require ski or snowshoe equipment depending on snow conditions. The hut offers accommodation, meals, and is open year-round to visitors wanting to explore Rila’s famous mountain trails and natural landmarks.
